"The world is before you and you need not take it or leave it as it was when you came." - James Baldwin
The above picture of cotton was taken over a year ago when my daughter and I toured what once was a slave plantation in Georgia.
As we walked the same land and peered into the old shacks where people who looked liked us once lived, I was overcome by my history and the history of us all.
With everything that continues to happen in our country and world, it is important to know our history because it matters. When we understand our history and from where we come, we can then begin to understand our present times. And from there we can make positive and impactful changes for our future.
We all have something we can contribute to make our society a better place. We each have been given gifts, talents, skills, ideas, and experiences that if shared can make a difference not only in our lives but also in the lives of others.
No matter what you were created to do in this world it is time to come off the sidelines and take the first steps towards your purpose and God-inspired dreams. Our society needs what you were "fearfully and wonderfully made" to do.
